MPD relocates to city centre to target tech talent

TECHNOLOGY and software company MPD Group, home to Electio and MyParcel Delivery, has relocated to a new city centre office in Manchester.

The company says the move from Trafford park to new offices in Merchant Exchange on Whitworth Street West will play a key role in attracting top talent, as it plans to double staff numbers to more than 50 by the end of the year.

Its retail delivery management platform Electio is currently looking for 12 .net developers to join five others that have already joined in 2016.

The office move follows a number of major appointments across all areas of the business.

MPD Group began the expansion of its marketing team last year with the appointment of Susie Lee-Kilgariff as marketing director. This has continued with the arrival of content specialist Tom White and design manager Mark Slater.

The company has also welcomed three apprentices on board as part of its commitment to nurturing local talent.

Recent additions from across the ecommerce and delivery industry include national sales manager Anthony Smith who joined Electio from GFS, alongside partnership manager, Vickey Egglestone and head of client technology Paul Hill who both joined from industry leader MetaPack earlier in the year.

David Grimes, chief executive of MPD Group said: “We’re committed to attracting the North’s top talent and moving into the accessible location of Manchester city centre plays a huge part in that. The North West has one of the most vibrant and exciting tech scenes in Europe and we’re proud to be a part of it.

“The quality of the technology we’re producing is shaking up the delivery industry and attracting some of the biggest names in ecommerce. It’s now time to invest in our staff and attract future talent by providing a fantastic office environment right in the heart of the Northern Powerhouse.”
