Jolie good price of £1.6m invited for hotel

A HOTEL where movie star Angelina Jolie stayed during the filming of Tomb Raider 2 has been put up for sale with offers invited for about £1.6m.

The Hollywood A-lister stayed at Seiont Manor Hotel at Llanrug, Caernarfon in 2002 with her adopted son Maddox whilst filming the action adventure epic Lara Croft Tomb Raider: the Cradle of Life with another 150 cast and crew members in a six-week shoot at six locations in Snowdonia.

Acting on behalf of owner Hand Picked Hotels, the property is being jointly offered for sale as a going concern by the specialist hotels team at the Manchester office of real estate advisers Colliers International and Christie & Co, the specialist adviser for the buying and selling of properties in sectors including hotels.

Set in 22 acres and surrounded by farmland, lakes and rivers, Seiont Manor has 28 en-suite bedrooms and suites including two four poster bedrooms, major conference and function facilities and indoor heated swimming pool.  The hotel is one of the most popular wedding venues in North Wales.

The hotel has been awarded AA three Red Stars and two Rosettes and is a renowned wedding and banqueting venue.

Adjacent to the hotel and also offered for sale by Colliers International and Christie & Co is a disused Grade II listed manor house with planning consent for an additional seven bedrooms and meeting rooms.

Seiont Manor was originally built in the 18th Century as a farmstead and first developed as a hotel after the estate was acquired by a private couple in 1986.

Hand Picked Hotels subsequently acquired the hotel in 1999 and has since invested heavily in the property to create high quality accommodation.

Julian Troup, head of UK hotels – agency at Colliers International, said: “We anticipate a high level of interest in what is a renowned country house hotel in a prime location in Snowdonia National Park being offered at a very competitive price.”
