Wa-ter way to enjoy city centre canal

A UNIQUE widebeam canal hotel boat has opened in Manchester city centre in the run up the summer holiday period.

Husband-and-wife team Steve and Stephanie Kitt have launched Castlerose Boat Stay with support from NatWest.

Castlerose offers stylish whole boat self-catering accommodation for up to six people. She is fitted out with two bedrooms and two bathrooms en-suite, a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and lounge with sofa bed, multi-fuel fire and TV.

Moored at Castlefield Basin in the heart of Manchester optional cruises on the Bridgewater Canal to Worsley, Salford Quays and Lymm are also offered.

The couple began their business journey three years ago when they saw a traditional hotel boat operating on the canals and thought what a great opportunity it would be to bring the concept to central Manchester.

Stephanie, who will be responsible for the day-to-day business operations, said: “It’s incredibly exciting to get to this point where we are officially launching the business.

Cruising along the canals is something Steve and I both love, and to have a business dedicated to this gives us a great deal of pride and satisfaction which we would like to share with our customers.

“Our offering is different to other canal boat hires as Castlerose is a luxury widebeam boat offering a unique city break location and our customers can have a skippered cruise, which may appeal to those who want the experience but don’t want the responsibility of driving.”
