Halewood says chin-chin to Liverpool Gin

HALEWOOD International, the Liverpool alcoholic drinks manufacturer and distributor, has acquired the Liverpool Gin brand as part of its continued expansion plans, for an undisclosed sum.

With a new senior team in place, Halewood International is looking to expand its product range. Following the recent acquisition of the Pogues Irish Whiskey brand, the latest addition to support Halewood’s spirit offering is from the company’s home city of Liverpool.

The purchase of Liverpool Gin also paves the way for Halewood to start distilling a wider range of premium spirits in the Sovereign Distillery at its Huyton-based facility.

Liverpool Gin was formed four years ago and produces a range of three ultra-premium gins with an ABV of 42%; Liverpool Gin Original as well as Valencian Orange and Rose variants.

Stewart Hainsworth, chief executive of Halewood International, said: “Acquiring Liverpool Gin enhances our spirits portfolio and complements our other premium brands such as Whitley Neill Gin and our whiskey portfolio.  Liverpool Gin has been hugely successful since its creation, and we will ensure the essence of the brand remains whilst expanding its reach to audiences throughout the UK and beyond.”

Mark Hensby, founding director of Liverpool Gin, said: “This is a great opportunity to take the brand forward and strengthen its offering in the coming years. We’re looking forward to working closely with Halewood International in the coming months on their plans for the brand.”
