Football club braced for job losses

BOLTON Wanderers Football Club has opened consultation with staff over possible job losses.

The Macron Stadium club, which has been relegated to the Sky Bet League One – the third tier of English football – says it has begun the process with a view to restructuring its football operations and staff.

“Whilst the club appreciates that this is a difficult and challenging process, it is imperative in order to best prepare for life in Sky Bet League One,” a statement on the BWFC website said. “The club will be making no further comment on the matter at this time.”

In March the club was acquired by The Sports Shield consortium, led by former Wanderers forward Dean Holdsworth, and the Inner Circle Club, an investor network led by entrepreneur Ken Anderson.

They bought Isle of Man-based owner Eddie Davies’s 94.5% stake in Burnden Leisure – the holding company for the Wanderers.
