£43m homes plan for Cheshire town

HOUSBUILDER Redrow has submitted plans for a new £43m housing development in Congleton, Chesire.

The proposed development is for 202 homes across 14 acres on land off Macclesfield Road, about a mile from the centre of the town.

It includes a selection of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including the provision of affordable housing.

The proposed development scheme is on land allocated for housing development in the Draft Cheshire East Local Plan.

The development features a number of different house types from Redrow’s popular Heritage Collection. Plans also include the creation of a large area of public open space on the land, along with an ecological area to support local wildlife.

John Grime, managing director of Redrow Homes (NW), said: “This is an excellent site with the potential to add significant value to the local area.

“The development will not only support the market need for high quality affordable and family homes in Congleton, both now and in the future, but will also provide homes of distinction and character to enhance the locality.

“Congleton is a bustling town with strong transport links, good local schools, shops and amenities.

“All this, combined with the beauty of the Peak District on the doorstep, make it the ideal family base. It’s an area already boasting a strong urban and rural architectural mix and, by building sensitively to the existing landscape, our development will offer a village feel while delivering real benefits for the community.”

Redrow’s popular Heritage Collection combines traditional craftsmanship inspired by the 1930s Arts and Crafts movement with bright, modern and spacious interiors to suit today’s busy family life.

A decision on the planning application is expected later in the year.
