Assura Group’s former chief executive loses cancer battle

THE former chief executive of Assura Group, Graham Roberts, has lost his battle with cancer.

Mr Roberts resigned from the Warrington group last month after taking a leave of absence in March to fight the illness.

However Balfour Beatty, for whom he had been a non-executive director since 2009, has this morning announced that he died on Friday.

Philip Aiken, chairman of Balfour Beatty, said, “On behalf of Balfour Beatty, I would like to express our sympathy to Graham’s family and pay tribute to Graham, a highly valued colleague”.

Mr Roberts joined Assura in March 2012 after 10 years with British Land, where he was finance director.

Prior to that, he spent eight years at Andersen, latterly as a partner specialising in the real estate and government services sectors. He was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
