Insurance group gears up for expansion with big move

Profits rise

CREWE-based The County Insurance Group is celebrating the launch of its new headquarters in the town as it prepares for further expansion.

The company, which has also been names Regional Broker of the Year at the British Insurance Awards, has grown into one of the region’s largest providers of insurance products, with 18 branches and more than 20,000 customers.

Growth is currently running at more than 30% a year and customer premiums are riding high at £60m.

Staff numbers at the company founded in 2003 have increased to 230 and there are plans to create 30 new jobs at Crewe over the next few months.
All that has led to expansion with a move from Fourth Avenue to a 10,000sq ft base off Westmere Drive on Crewe Business Park – big enough to accommodate a growing workforce.

Chief executive Dave Clapp said: “We started out as a small high street broker and have diversified into niche areas, such as taxi insurance.

“Despite record growth, we remain steadfastly committed to providing a first class customer service. Renewal rates of up to 90% are testament to that. Our achievements are also down to the quality of the people we have working here and I am thrilled to see this recognised with another major award under our belt.”

The County Group is ranked as a Top 50 UK broker offering a complete spectrum of business and personal insurance products for cars, vans, homes, contents and businesses. It also specialises in insurance for taxi drivers. It is the current holder of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce ‘Large Business of the Year’ award.

Chamber chief executive Paul Colman, who performed the official opening of the new premises, said: “County Insurance Group is a true success story. It remains loyal to its roots while creating job opportunities for local young people. We wish it every success in its new premises.”
