Cheshire bar wins Pub of the Year

A PUBLIC house in Cheshire has earned the title of Pub of the Year.

The Cask Tavern in Poynton near Stockport won the title by CAMRA’s High Peak, Tameside and North Cheshire Branch. The pub is part of Bollington Brewing Co, who not only brew their own popular beer but also now own a range of pubs in the North West.

The Cask Tavern, which launched in 2013, has become a favourite among locals and visitors to the area who enjoy its wide range of award-winning, locally brewed ales.

The pub, which is managed by Tom Quinn, has worked hard for the pub to become a success and a part of Poynton’ local community alongside its sister pubs, The Park Tavern in Macclesfield and The Vale Inn in Bollington. Bollington Brewing Co.’s range of ales is sold at all three pubs and the company has become a huge success in and around Cheshire.

Tom said: “This area is recognised for its high concentration of well-established pubs, so we were blown away to receive the accolade. We’re a small, friendly pub and our dedication to serving up outstanding brews in a relaxed and charming environment has built up a strong and loyal customer base.”

The Cask Tavern reopened under The Bollington Brewing Co. in October 2013 and sells six real ales, including five from Bollington Brewing Co., two real ciders, a selection of craft beers and Moravka Lager.

Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co., added: “Tom and the tem have worked so hard to put The Cask on the local map so it’s a real coup to receive this recognition from CAMRA. As a family business with a passion for brewing top quality ales, our dream has always been for people to be able to enjoy them in pubs that are truly rooted in the local community.”
