Your top 10: Neville & Giggs reveal pics of city development but historic pub in danger, Mike Ashley’s chairmanship bid, and more…

LET’S kick off this week’s news round-up with a story that broke after our Friday morning email – the news that listed home shopping company Findel has blocked a move by Mike Ashley to become its chairman.

The Sports Direct founder has built up the company’s stake in Findel to 30% and hoped a deal for Sports Direct to stock Findel subsidiary Express Gifts’ products would secure the role but he has had his ambitions thwarted again.

Back to the official top ten – and by far the most popular story of the week was the release of the very first images of Manchester United legends Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs’ £200m city centre development plans for Manchester.

The pictures of towering apartments and offices over three public squares are impressive. But there is also controversy as the historic Sir Ralph Abercromby pub will be demolished.

Meanwhile, there have been protests in Hong Kong over the alleged scams of a Liverpool property company.

Police in the former British colony have been flooded with calls asking them to investigate the activities of Absolute Living Developments – currently being wound up – which is behind a controversial development of apartments in Runcorn.

Sticking with property, you were also keen to find out more about plans to transform a Grade II-listed mill complex near Manchester’s Piccadilly station into a £50m residential scheme.
