Restaurant launches mini bar treats offer

THE new-look Grafene restaurant in central Manchester is launching a small plates option to complement it’s a la carte menu, along with a range of tasty bar treats including its very own ‘Our Kid Burger’.

Diners on Sunday to Thursday now have small plater alternatives to all the a la carte dishes – except steaks – allowing them to enjoy the daily changing market-based menu at any sitting, whatever their budget.

The a la carte and small plates menus sit alongside the £49.50 seven-course taster menu and the daily two and three course £18/£23 lunches on Friday and Saturday (£2 extra on Sunday).

Owner Paul Roden said: “We’ve been delighted with the response from the Manchester public to our ‘real food’ philosophy. People are loving the food, décor and atmosphere.

“But the amazing modern British cooking here is not exclusive, and nor are the prices. The small plates allow people to put together their own great value meals.”

The Our Kid Burger weighs in at £5 and features kid goat meat supplied by Cabrito, 2014 winner of an Observer Food Monthly Award.

Roden added: “Kid goat is sustainable and really flavoursome. You could say the Our Kid Burger is a  nod to our Northern roots.

Other options on the bar treats menu, include Lancashire cheese rarebit, fried duck egg, venison sausage rolls and black pudding bon bons with apple puree.
