Engineering company picks out science park for HQ

BOOTH Welsh, an international integrated engineering service company, has chosen Sci-Tech Daresbury as the location of its first office in the North West.

Part of the Clough group of companies whose headquarters is in the West of Scotland, Booth Welsh identified the renowned Cheshire-based campus as the location from which to achieve their UK and international growth plans.

Established in 1989, Booth Welsh is a specialist integrated engineering services company and offers the full spectrum of in-house process, electrical, control and instrumentation services, employing more than 250 technical personnel and delivering solutions to a range of industries for many global blue chip clients across the oil and gas, life sciences, power generation, utilities and food & beverage sectors.

It became part of Australian engineering and project services giant, Clough, in September 2014.

Booth Welsh will initially create employment opportunities for up to 10 people at Sci-Tech Daresbury’s state-of-the-art Innovation Centre where it will be taking 500sq ft of space alongside as many as 100 other companies.

Managing director Martin Welsh said: “As Clough’s Centre of Excellence for Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Europe & Middle East (EME) regional business, the opening of this office will allow us to accelerate our strategic growth plans both here in the UK and overseas.”

“Crucially it gives us greater proximity to our clients and partners in the North West of England and will act as a critical springboard to strengthen these relationships and attract prospective clients.

“We conduct a lot of business in industry areas located within the North West so this has been a key consideration to taking the step to open a regional office here and realising our ambition for the company.”

“We also chose Sci-Tech Daresbury because technology and innovation are inextricably linked to our growth. Not only will we have access to ultra-modern facilities within a well-established engineering community, but also the campus itself enjoys access to national and international transport links and a large talent pool and as our business grows we anticipate creating more high value new jobs.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Borough Council.

The site, which has Enterprise Zone status, is home to technology businesses and globally significant science facilities.
