Blueprint for first phase of £100m scheme submitted

LAND and property company HIMOR has submitted plans for the first phase of its £100m Future Carrington regeneration near Manchester.

The proposals for the flagship development, including Carrington Village, which will deliver up to 900 two and four-bedroom homes and a million sq ft of employment space, have handed in to Trafford Borough Council.

Submission of the plans follows a period of consultation with local residents and stakeholders, who were asked to give their views on the proposals and layout of the site.

According HIMOR, the vision is to deliver a lasting legacy which brings real benefits to the surrounding area.

It believes the delivery of Future Carrington will revitalise and regenerate the Carrington estate for the “whole local community”, and the plans for phase one include more than 13 hectares of green open space, including play areas.

The new homes will be connected by a series of landscaped streets, footpaths and cycle ways.

If approved, the plans will transform the local economy by bringing 1,900 jobs supported by businesses at Future Carrington, 250 construction jobs in each construction year and 140 indirect jobs with new household spending.

There will also be a new homes bonus of £7.6m paid to Trafford Council.

HIMOR also says, that, if approved, the scheme will also include the relocation of Carrington Rugby Club with the provision of a high quality new pitch, floodlit training area and a clubhouse, which could be available for community use.

There will also be a local centre providing shops and services for the local community that will act as a heart for the village.

The proposals will include significant transport improvements along Manchester Road at existing junctions at Isherwood Road/Flixton Road; Manchester Road/Common Lane; Carrington Lane /West Sale Junction.

Paul Stanley, director at HIMOR, said: “We’re pleased to have submitted the applications for Phase One of Future Carrington.

“We believe that our plans will breathe life into the area, providing high quality homes, creating new jobs, and unlocking investment.

“It was encouraging to see such an interest in the future of this site, which many regard as having real potential for regeneration.

“Our team has worked hard to consider all points raised by local residents and these have been addressed as part of the submitted application.”

The submission of the plans follows significant public consultation, including a public drop-in session at Carrington Business Park in February and a transport specific drop-in session in June.

HIMOR says it has used feedback from the public consultation to help shape the vision for Phase One of Future Carrington.
