Budget airline to bring 300 jobs to Manchester Airport

BUDGET airline Jet2.com is on a major recruitment drive, with 1,000 pilot, cabin crew and engineering positions available across the UK – 310 of which will be based at Manchester Airport.

The recruitment of pilot, cabin crew and engineering positions at Manchester Airport follows the launch of Jet2’s biggest ever flights and holidays programme for summer 2017 from the airport, including two new destinations Costa de Almeria (Spain) and Halkidiki (Greece).

The announcement of 1,000 jobs nationally follows the recent addition of an eighth UK base in Birmingham with flights launching in 2017, alongside the acquisition of 30 new B737-800 aircraft commencing in September 2016 over a two-year period.

The company is hosting a recruitment roadshow at Radisson Blu Hotel, Manchester Airport on Thursday September 8.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Our family-friendly formula is clearly working with customers and it means that we’re one of the UK’s fastest growing airlines.

“We have exciting plans to expand the number of destinations we fly to, as well as the number of UK bases we fly from, and this means that our team is growing all the time too. If you’re a pilot, engineer or aspiring cabin rrew, and want to join the team of the UK’s favourite airline, then we’d be delighted to see you at our Manchester Airport roadshow.”

Earlier this year the airline, which is part of Leeds-based Dart Group, announced that it had doubled pre-tax profits to £104.2m for the year to 31 March 2016. Revenues also took off, rising 12% to £1.4bn.

The company, which flew more than 6 million passengers over the year, said the success of Jet2.com and Jet2 Holidays was behind the stellar performance.
