Wine merchants to open in Stockport

WINE merchant Blanc de Blancs is set to open at Bramhall Village Square in Stockport soon with an outlet which also includes a bar.

Blanc de Blancs is the brainchild of independent wine merchants Emma Bailie and Alex Buxton.

Bailie said:  “The front section of the premises will be our wine shop where people can pop in and pick up a bottle, or get recommendations to suit them.

“We’re incorporating a bar, seating and stylish private booth to hire, for those who want to enjoy a glass or two and some nibbles with friends.”

The pair already run a highly successful wine shop and bar in the market town of Garstang in Lancashire.

Buxton said: “I stumbled across Bramhall a few years ago and thought it was wonderful to have such a village feel so close to Manchester city centre. So when we were ready to commit to a second location, Bramhall was top of the list.”

Blanc de Blancs is a classic style of champagne made from just the white grape Chardonnay.

The business partners say they will bring a “classy combination of wine shop and wine bar to Bramhall, focusing on champagne, fine wine, gin and whisky”.

Bailie added: “It will be our pleasure to cater for those who, like us, enjoy the finer things in life.”

Paul Wrigglesworth, associate director at HIMOR, has terms with Blanc de Blancs.

He said: “There was competition for this location from national operators in the same sector. However, Alex and Emma’s passion for the business was evident, as was their commitment to becoming an integral part of the Bramhall community.

“We are excited to see the premises taking shape and look forward to the doors opening.”
