Professional services firm on course for £40m revenue

CHESTER-based Knights professional services has increased its team fivefold, growing its professionals from 14 to 70 since opening an office in the city in October 2013.

Knights is now projected to double its turnover from £21m to £40m by 2017, working with major clients including Aldi, Textron Aviation, Oruna Co-operative, Henry Boot and American Golf.

Knights says it continues to grow its team of experts in corporate, commercial, real estate, litigation, employment, regulatory, landed estates, family and private client by attracting high-calibre professionals with city and niche sector expertise.

Chester office leader, Sally Wightman said: “The last three years has seen Knights grow at a phenomenal rate – something we’re very proud of.

“A number of highly-respected industry professionals have joined the Knights’ Chester office as we turn the traditional partnership model of a law firm on its head.”

In the last year Knights welcomed partner Helen Nash who has more than 17 years of experience as a development lawyer and special expertise in energy, utilities and off shore gas exploration, partner Katie Brassington – an experienced tax and trust lawyer with knowledge in Court of Protection work and Matt Wedderburn who will grow Knights’ town planning offering.

Wightman said: “Knights focuses on being corporate and commercially aware.

“This allows our team to tap into sector specialisms and provide significant results for our clients. We currently have experts in dental, education, food, equine, veterinary, health, agriculture, travel industry, energy, utilities, retail and development and banking and finance.

“Our corporate team, who advise on a wide range of transactions including M&A, is now one of the largest teams in the area, having grown from one to 15 professionals. Similarly, our real estate division has grown to 12 professionals and is one of the largest and highly regarded teams in the area.

“Knights has also expanded to offer non-legal services to complement our other services to clients, including planning and corporate finance. There is no other business offering full service professional services locally and we intend to expand this, so that we can broaden our support to clients.”

Knights is a UK top-70 law firm with more than 375 professionals and has offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Cheltenham, Chester, Hale, Derby and Oxford.
