LAW firm Eversheds has strengthened its Manchester office with the arrival of partners Nick Stubbs and Mark Hammerton.
 
Nick Stubbs, a commercial specialist who joined from Ward Hadaway earlier this year, has officially taken up his role in Eversheds’ Manchester commercial team having been on secondment for several months to client, Co-operative Bank.
 
Stubbs has a wide range of expertise in high value commercial contracts, IT and outsourcing agreements. He acts for a number of clients in various sectors, including financial services and retail.
 
In addition to  Stubbs, the firm has welcomed back employment partner Mark Hammerton from Clyde & Co.

Hammerton has advised major public and private sector clients in a wide variety of areas. His specialities include TUPE, restructuring operations, changes to terms and conditions, outsourcing and insourcing, equal pay and the HR aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

Eversheds’ Manchester office has enjoyed a run of lateral hires recently. Pensions partner Charmian Johnson joined from Squire Patton Boggs in March, while real estate partner Ian Barker joined from Berg in February.

LAW firm Slater and Gordon is expanding its Manchester family team with the addition of six senior solicitors in response to strong demand for specialist services.
 
The new appointments will widen the breadth of expertise available offering public and private law services ranging from child law to domestic violence and abuse to cohabitation and divorce.

Natalie Bruce joins from Heaney Watson Solicitors and specialises in disputes over contact, residence, guardian work and domestic abuse.

Chris Fairhurst and Paul Webb have also arrived as partners from Stephensons Solicitors. Fairhurst specialises in finance and complex child work and Webb focuses on private and public child law. They are both Children Panel Accreditation Scheme members.
 
Marc Etherington has been practising family law since 2009 and joins from Braddon & Snow Solicitors. He has a strong background in acting for clients in complex matters involving children, cohabitation and divorce.

Sarah Jane Lenihan has moved from Wellers Law Group and works with all aspects of family law including divorce, separation, children matters and domestic violence.

ACCOUNTANTS and business advisers HURST has announced three promotions.

Ian Dawson has become an associate partner and Ben Bradley a manager in the firm’s corporate finance team, while Joe Lockett has become an assistant manager in the payroll services division.

Dawson joined HURST in 2012 after working at Ernst & Young and Begbies Traynor. He has advised on some of the firm’s most high-profile recent deals, including the sale of Salford-based technology services provider JMC IT to IT Lab in 2015.

In addition, he is increasingly responsible for the day-to-day management of HURST’s corporate finance team.

Bradley trained with HURST from 2011 and joined the corporate finance division last October from the business services team.
 Recently he advised on the sale of Comms-Care, a Cheshire-based provider of outsourced IT services, to US firm Ingram Micro.

Lockett joined HURST three years ago from BDO. In his new role, he will help to oversee relationships with larger payroll clients and support the management of the expanding payroll team.

THE Liverpool office of commercial property company CBRE has appointed Sarah Pearson as an associate director in its asset services team.

Her appointment follows the recent recruitment of Emma Berry as senior surveyor at the Manchester office.

Pearson previously worked for Legal Owen as an associate director in its management department where she specialised in business and technology parks. 
 
In her new role at CBRE, Pearson will be using her past experience in construction, development and asset management to bring added value to CBRE’s managed properties focusing initially on offices and business and technology parks.

Andrew Willoughby, director in the asset services team, said: “Our North West team is undergoing a period of continued growth in response to client demand and we are delighted to welcome Sarah to the business at this busy time.”

PR and writing agency Scribble – based at Hale in Greater Manchester – is celebrating its 10th birthday by expanding the team, as Kelly Beckett joins as writer and media researcher.
 
The boutique agency that works across a broad range of sectors including, children’s media, marketing, the arts and leisure was set up by journalist Helen Dugdale, after a career working for Key 103, Yorkshire TV and Sheffield International Documentary Festival.

Managing director of Scribble, Dugdale, said: “Reaching Scribble’s tenth birthday is a massive milestone and one I’m proud to have achieved. I have big plans to grow the business and would love to open an office in Canada after living out there.
 
“Kelly is a strong asset to the team. She has endless creativity and is a great writer. She is a champion proofreader and ruthless with a red-pen, which is just what Scribble needs, as we create and edit so much content for our clients.

Beckett returns to the media industry following a career as a primary school teacher. Dugdale and Beckett worked together back in 2001, developing content for Emap’s The ClickUK websites. Beckett went on to work for Big Brother as an online vision mixer and writer and then the BBC as an online researcher.

SPECIALIST engineering firm FPE Global has appointed Tim Hines as chief financial officer to support its continued growth strategy.
 
Hines joins FPE with more than 11 years’ experience in senior financial management positions. He has spent the past two years as finance director at mining solutions firm Joy Global, and has held other senior roles at Manchester Airport, HJ Heinz, Kellogg’s and KPMG.

In his new role, Hines will be responsible for driving the company’s financial strategy as the Manchester-headquartered business continues to target growth in overseas markets.

An specialist in bulk materials handling and pneumatic conveying, the company has already doubled order intake in 2016 and sales are forecasted to grow to £16m by the end of 2017.

Hines’ appointment comes after a period of investment in FPE’s senior management team. The company introduced Dave Cooper as CEO in March this year and has appointed a number of industry experts as it shifts its focus to a number of high growth sectors.

These include specialists in materials handling, food and beverage, pet foods, detergents and chemicals and renewables.

Cooper said: “Tim’s experience in capital goods businesses coupled with his knowledge of our core markets will be a great asset to the team as we look to build on recent successes and get more deeply engrained with our core markets and key customer base.
   
Hines added: “FPE has a clear growth strategy and with increasingly strong sales figures the role represents an exciting opportunity.

LANCASHIRE-based marketing communications agency The Write Angle has expanded its team with the appointment of a senior account executive.

Elīna Miezīte has more than three years of experience and joins the  Chorley firm from an agency in Merseyside where she supported various business-to-business and consumer accounts across the legal, insurance and charity sectors.

The appointment follows several new client wins for the firm which was named the Best PR and Marketing Agency of the Year 2016 by Downtown in Business.
