Hospital signs £2.5m deal with property management firm

SALFORD Royal NHS Foundation Trust has signed a five-year contract with property management firm Vivark.

The £2.5m deal will see the company, part of the First Ark group, carry out maintenance, alterations and run management services in the hospital’s buildings on Stott Lane, Salford.

As a social enterprise, the company also injects some profits into the regeneration and social development of the areas in which it works.

Phil Webster, director of facilities and asset management at Vivark, said: “The hospital cares for the community and in turn we’ll care for the hospital facilities.

“This is a milestone in the growing relationship between Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Vivark, and the people living in the local area.

“We’re very much looking forward to what the next five years will hold.”

Work at Salford Royal Hospital has already begun, with Vivark offering general facilities management services.

The company has pledged to invest profits into Salford to help local people and organisations work together to develop new skills.

It focuses on improving digital literacy across regions and helping residents’ associations, local football clubs or other local grass-roots initiatives.

Launched in 2012, Vivark is supported by the registered investment charity One Ark, which it collaborates with to deliver growth in the places it works.

The charity typically helps people in the North West with employability skills, digital and financial inclusion, and learning about the environment, health and wellbeing.

In the past, it has have helped teach local people about the danger of loan-sharks, benefits of budget cooking and of eco-friendly living.
