Intelligence tech firm gets £2m funding deal

WONDRWALL Limited has secured a £2m financing package following a move to NatWest to support the tech firm’s business growth aspirations.

The Manchester-based firm has developed a state of the art intelligent home solution which automatically controls the heating, lighting and security.

The system, which is made up of hardware and built in software, transforms any home into an intelligent one that can operate on its own while also responding to individual behaviours and living habits.

While other systems on the market can be controlled remotely through mobile phones, the Wondrwall software learns household behavioural trends and can adjust home settings accordingly. This includes controlling lights to come on when the householders wakes up and adjusting heating when the house is occupied.

Daniel Burton, founder and chief executive of Wondrwall, said: “Wondrwall began as an energy saving product, tasked with saving the billions being wasted from heating and lighting empty homes.

“During our development cycle the home technology market saw the arrival of a fragmented landscape of devices to control your boiler, lighting, security and more.

“Compounding the problem of requiring multiple devices to improve your home’s efficiency was the issue that they all seemed to lack intelligence, requiring significant user input to operate effectively.

“We knew Wondrwall could be so much more than just an energy saving system, so we extended functionality to include lifestyle personalisation, safety and security features.”

Wondrwall recently moved its banking facilities to NatWest due to the banks specialist support for businesses in the tech sector.

The funding package includes facilities from partners RBSIF and Lombard. NatWest technology sector relationship manger Matt Mawdesley supported the deal.

Burton added: “We have been very impressed by Matt and the team at NatWest. Having a bank which understands your business and the sector you operate in is an incredible benefit to your business planning, and we look forward working with NatWest and the bank’s partners in months and years ahead.”

Mawdesley said: “Wondrwall is a fantastic system that will no doubt change households around the world. Daniel and the team have developed a fantastic product that is both innovative and functional. We welcome our new relationship with Wondrwall and look forward to working with the team in the future as the business goes from strength to strength.”
