MAG’s Cornish takes over as chairman of Manchester Central

MANCHESTER Airport Group chief executive Charlie Cornish is to take over as chairman of the Manchester Central.

He will replace John Early, pictured,  who has stepped down after a tenure of 12 years.

Early, a founding partner of urban regeneration company Genr8 Developments, helped steer the venue through its major redevelopment and rebranding project when the city’s dedicated exhibition venue was combined with its international conference centre to become what it is now.

Cornish joined the board of Manchester Central in 2015.

Angie Robinson, chief executive of Manchester Central, said: “John has played a significant role in shaping Manchester Central into the world class venue it is today.

“Although we are sad to see him step down, Charlie’s appointment provides us with a great opportunity to further establish our position within the city and work even closer with other leading businesses to develop our offer.”
