People on the move: Beever and Struthers; Catexel; ICAEW’s Solicitors’ Special Interest Group; Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors

MARK Bradley and Richard Williams have become partners at accountants and business advisers Beever and Struthers.

Bradley joined Beever and Struthers as a graduate recruit and qualifiying as a chartered accountant in 2008 and Williams arrived in 2008 with 16 years’ experience, the majority of which was in Manchester with one of the Big Four accountancy practices.  

Bradley specialises in the provision of tailored accountancy services to clients in a wide range of service and manufacturing organisations, educational academies and charitable institutions, while Williams focuses on the audit of private sector businesses, specialising in the firm’s largest international groups.

Their promotions take the total number of partners at the firm based in Manchester with offices in Blackburn and London to 22.

CHEMICALS company Catexel has appointed a new business development manager and an intern from the Royal Society of Chemistry programme at its Manchester office.

Liz Manning brings a wealth of experience to the newly created business development manager role.

She has most recently worked in commercial roles at chemical specialists MEL Chemicals and pharmaceutical supplier Thompson & Capper – both prominent industry leaders in the North West.

At Catexel, she will be focused on the delivery of customer sales plans and new business development.

Amy Bishop also joins from the internship programme. After studying at the University of York at the reputable Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence, she brings a highly technical background to this commercially focused role.

The appointments follow a strong period of growth for the chemical company that focuses on oxidation catalysis and has a worldwide customer base across the textiles, coatings and detergent and industrial cleaning sectors.

It has recently hired three other new interns and taken the space at a prominent office in Manchester city centre at 111 Piccadilly.

A MANCHESTER chartered accountant who specialises in Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules and in working with legal practices has been appointed to the ICAEW’s Solicitors’ Special Interest Group.

Lindsey Shepherd, of accountancy and advisory firm CLB Coopers, joins the group’s committee which comprises 15 members who are representatives from the accountancy and legal sector as well as industry.

The committee provides specialist sector knowledge, advice and thought leadership to the group’s 1,300 members and to firms supporting legal practice clients.

Shepherd, who is also a member of CLB Coopers’ specialist professional services group, said: “At CLB Coopers, we currently work with over twenty legal practices, from the niche boutiques to large multi-site national firms operating across all disciplines.

“This is very much a core specialism throughout all areas of the firm and one where we have seen real growth in demand over the last eighteen months.”

MANCHESTER law firm Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors says it has underlined its commitment to strategic expansion with the appointment of Paul Matthews as head of its corporate and commercial team.

Matthews, 48, who lives near Chorley, joins WHN after a long and distinguished career as a specialist solicitor.
 
He spent 12 years as a partner with Manchester city centre firm, Rowlands Solicitors, including time as joint managing partner.
 
His remit at WHN involves building and developing the firm’s corporate and commercial practice at its seven offices across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

Matthews said: “Having brought a number of Manchester clients over to WHN and ensuring they are bedded into our client base, I am now looking to attract new clients, increase the volume and value of transactions we undertake, and eventually recruit extra team members.”

His areas of specialism include corporate and commercial transactions, mergers, acquisitions, management buyouts, shareholder arrangements, joint ventures, partnership issues, commercial contracts and terms of business.
