Fred Done out to build Northern Quarter apartment block

BILLIONAIRE bookie Fred Done’s development company has submitted plans for a 183-apartment tower block complete with rooftop gardens and shops in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

His firm Salboy has applied to turn a car park on Tib Street next to Black Dog Ballroom, the Britannia Sachas Hotel and Debenhams into the city’s latest des res nine storeys high.

If the scheme gets the green light, artist David Kemp’s Big Horn -installed in 1999 opposite Afflecks Palace – would be taken down and relocated and the site wall it sits on demolished.

Salboy has entered into a joint venture with Factory Estates in a scheme dubbed ‘Citu NQ’.

Work could start next year if the planning application is approved.

Northern Quarter-based IDP Group Architects has designed the building.

Euan Kellie Property Solutions advised on the project.
