Liverpool privateers send out powerful message at property expo

LIVERPOOL’S private sector delegation to the UK’s biggest property conference, MIPIM UK, has set out a powerful message that the city is open for business – with civic leaders and companies working together to drive the city’s growth agenda forward.

The private sector-led Liverpool City Region delegation – project managed by Marketing Liverpool – is showcasing the city’s key property assets and development opportunities on the Liverpool MIPIM UK exhibition stand.

The delegation is backed by leaders including Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson, Liverpool City Council chief executive Ged Fitzgerald, Wirral Council leader Phil Davies, Knowsley Council leader Andy Moorhead and Knowsley Council chief executive Mike Harden.

Key companies from the Liverpool property sector have come together to promote the region, connect with investors and developers and showcase Liverpool’s key property assets and development opportunities at the property expo at London’s Olympia which ends today (Friday, October 21).

Sean Beech, who leads Deloitte’s Liverpool office and leads Liverpool’s MIPIM UK steering group, said: “MIPIM UK presents a fantastic platform for the Liverpool City Region’s private sector to showcase its key assets and development opportunities.

“The city region is a dynamic, vibrant location which offers an outstanding proposition for investors and developers.”

Barry Roberts, area director of construction and infrastructure giant Morgan Sindall’s North West region, said: “We’re here as a partner because we feel its key to support Liverpool’s newest innovation campus – Paddington Village.

“This will be a location where collaboration and innovation will thrive and in order for that vision to come to fruition, it’s key that the private sector gets behind it and drives it forward and does their part to attract blue chip clients to the site, helping to leverage future growth and generate wider benefits for the region.”

Peter Commins, Northern director of property group, Kier, said: “Liverpool Business Showcase Session covered Liverpool’s focus on innovation and its next-generation manufacturing capability through developments like Sensor City, and its place as a global city of culture with world-leading assets like LIPA and its new performing arts development.

“As a contractor behind both these key schemes, which showcase Liverpool’s growth and expertise across sectors, Kier is playing a major role in the ongoing development of the city and we’re proud to be partnering with both Liverpool and Manchester and to be part of the MIPIMUK delegation.”

Sean Keyes, director at engineering consultancy Sutcliffe, said: “The collaborative ethos that underpins the Liverpool and Manchester delegation is fantastic and it’s great to see the private and public sector working so closely together.”

Darryl Kelly, development director at Carpenter Investments, which is based in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter, said: “We’ve had a very fruitful time at MIPIM UK so far, being here gives us a platform to connect with local authorities and other potential partners and we’ve had some very productive conversations so far.

“I’ve already connected with a potential international investor as a result of being at the expo, and it’s been great to develop new connections and reinforce our existing networks.”

Mark Worcester, planning director, at planning specialists Turley, said: “We see real potential in Liverpool, which we’ve responded to by joining this years’ delegation. It’s an exciting time for the city – it’s definitely raising its game and its profile is rising significantly. The civic leadership shown by both cities is outstanding.”
