Recruiter doubles floor space and targets £1.3m revenue

MANCHESTER digital recruitment firm The Candidate has doubled its office space and increased its headcount from 13 to 20 people, following a 78% uplift in turnover.

The business’ revenue grew from £450,000 in 2014/15 to £803,000 in 2015/16. The Candidate predicts it will grow by a further 60% and hit £1.3m revenue as it enters its fifth year of business in 2016/17.

Its total client count has almost doubled year on year, with key clients including MediaCom, JD Sports, Missguided, MEC, WeBuyAnyCar.com and Dentsu Aegis. This has lead to over 120% growth in candidates placed year on year.

The business has also launched its IT and tech department this year, specifically to cope with increased demand for skilled tech professionals in the fast growing Northern digital sector.

As part of its continued investment into helping grow the talent base in the region and address the digital skills shortage, The Candidate placed over 15% of candidates into the North West from outside of the region last year.

It also retains strong relationships with Manchester Met University and the University of Salford, so it can continue to encourage and progress young talent through the ranks and into the industry.

Brian Matthews, managing partner at The Candidate said: “It’s been a busy period here at The Candidate as we move offices to accommodate new staff and departments.

“Recently, we’ve really seen all our ambitious plans come together in the form of the office expansion, significant client wins, placement of the UK’s leading candidates, awards, accolades, and more and more people wanting to work for us, which is fantastic.

“The digital sector in the North West, and specifically Manchester, is such an exciting place to be right now.

“It’s an area that is changing constantly and really keeps us on our toes. We’ve been committed from the outset to actively tackling the skills shortage – something we’ll continue to prioritise in coming months and years.”
