Advisory firm set to launch cycling network for business people

A NEW cycling networking event is set to launch in the North West, hosted by accountancy and business advisory firm BDO.

Bringing together the worlds of bikes and business, BDOVELO has proven a hit in the south and is set to introduce North West professionals, who share a love of cycling, to the opportunity.

A event for North West’s BDOVELO is set to take place on November 10 in Manchester at The Bike Rooms, Deansgate and will feature a special appearance by ex-Raleigh professional, Malcolm Elliott.

Consisting of a mix of rides and other networking events with a cycling theme, each ride is professionally-supported by experienced road guides and support cars.

The events are not simply about going for a bike ride but building new business opportunities with time to network with other business executives over a coffee beforehand, while riding side by side and over lunch afterwards.

Stuart Wood, partner at BDO, said: “Over the years, as my network has expanded, some of my strongest relationships are founded on a shared interest or hobby. So instead of sitting at work talking about cycling, we’re encouraging everyone to get on their bikes and talk business.

“Cycling is increasing in popularity after some high-profile events in the North and stars being produced at Manchester’s Velodrome – the FT recently cited cycling as the new golf where networking is concerned.

“We have some of the most beautiful countryside on our doorstep offering a magnificent setting to allow for clear business thinking while extending professional connections. It’s an antidote to traditional networking events.”
