Nine jobs to go at CITV’s creative team

THE axe is to fall on the MediaCityUK-based CITV’s nine-strong creative team as the broadcaster looks to cut costs.

The move has been forced by ITV chief executive Adam Crozier’s bid to slash £25m from the company’s budget in the wake of Bexit, with advertising revenue expected to decline by 7%.

According to Prolific North, the contract of programming head Jamila Metran is alsobeing terminated with her role as a commissioner and buyer of programmes to be carried out by existing genre teams. It was unclear whether she would be leaving altogether.

An ITV spokesman told the website: “We regularly review our operations across the business to ensure that we are structured as efficiently and effectively as possible.

“We are proposing to bring CITV in line with the way that the other ITV digital channels are run, which would mean the commissioning and acquisition of children’s programming being carried out by the existing genre teams.

“We have reviewed the Manchester-based CITV creative operation and have proposed absorbing this work into the centralised ITV Creative team, which handles all promotional activity for ITV’s channels.”

According to ITV Manchester staff will be able to apply for roles with the London-based creative team.

ITV said the changes would not affect the on-air look and feel of its children’s service.
