Plans lodged for 120-bed Holiday Inn and children’s nursery

A PLANNING application for a multi-million pound 120-bed hotel, children’s nursery and 29,000sq ft of offices has been lodged for Central Park Plaza on Oldham Road in Manchester.

The full application has been lodged by architect Leach Rhodes Walker on behalf of developer client James McGarr.

McGarr identified the need and demand to provide the mix of uses on this major route into the city centre and to be complementary to the uses on Central Park and make full use of the transport services provided by the adjacent Metrolink stop.

The scheme design has been worked up with Manchester City Council to create an exciting frontage with striking new buildings, and new public realm.

The hotel, designed for Holiday Inn Express, occupies the prominent corner of Oldham Rd with The Gateway – the access to Central Park.

Leach Rhodes Walker director Christian Gilham said: “We are delighted to have worked again with Manchester City Council and our client to achieve a high quality gateway scheme, which will stimulate growth, provide jobs and set new standards for quality and design in the locality.”
