SAVILLS has appointed a new head of residential development sales in the North of England.

Jamie Adam has joined the firm as an associate director to set up a new residential development sales team spanning the North West and Yorkshire from his base in the Manchester office.
 
Adam, who specialises in development consultancy and the sale and marketing of new build property, has 15 years’ experience in the property industry both agency and client side, mainly focused in the development and new homes sectors.

Prior to joining Savills, Adam worked for Lane Fox followed by Jackson-Stops & Staff in Winchester where he was head of land & new homes for six years.

He then moved to York to take over the running of the Jackson-Stops residential sales office. Most recently, he has worked client side for a private equity backed property investment and development company.

Adam said: “I am thrilled to have joined Savills and relish the challenge of setting up a new department in the north of England, an area which I am very familiar with. With the northern powerhouse firmly on everyone’s radar, this is an exciting time to be joining the business.”

HOUSING and regeneration specialist Galliford Try Partnerships is continuing the growth of its North West team with the appointment of a new build manager and two managerial promotions. 

Martin Sharkey has joined the company having previously held the position of build manager at Bellway Homes for over two years.

With more than 25 years’ experience in the housing industry, Sharkey will be responsible for overseeing the development of sites across the North West.
 
As part of his role, Sharkey will be responsible for planning and coordinating projects, making sure they are completed on time and on budget and to the high quality standards expected from their customers. 

The Warrington-based division also promoted Gary Bailey, who has worked for the company since 2014 on the New Brunswick PFI regeneration project, to build manager for the North West region.

Bailey has more than thirty years’ housing industry experience managing award winning projects worldwide including his previous role as Project Director for Nakheel on the villa fronds Palm Island Dubai.
 
Senior site manager John Mooney, who joined Galliford Try Partnerships from Countryside Properties in April this year, has also been promoted to build manager. He has more than 15 years’ experience in housing and construction, having previously held roles at Redrow Homes, Jones Homes and Bramall Construction Ltd.

Brendan Blythe, managing director at Galliford Try Partnerships North West, said: “It’s been a great year the company. We have continued to widen our offering across the North West and we are delighted to have expanded our team further to help us to deliver more new homes across the region.

“Martin is highly experienced within the housing and regeneration sector and along with Gary and John, will play a significant role in helping us to bring more sites to market in 2017.”

Galliford Try Partnerships North West, was set up in 2015 having previously been part of Galliford Try Construction. As well as having contracts with councils and housing associations in the region, Galliford Try Partnerships markets its speculative developments under the Linden Homes North West banner.

Following a year of rapid growth, the company is now delivering new homes across on 10 sites across the North West of England and North Wales.

A HIGHLY-rated housing solicitor has joined boutique Manchester-based commercial law firm Primas Law to spearhead the growth of its housing and regeneration team.
 
Sheila Whitton has joined Primas Law from Weightmans where she was a partner and headed up its social housing property team.
 
In a career spanning more than 20 years, Whitton is regarded as one of the leading housing and regeneration specialists in the UK having been recommended by two leading guides to the best law firms in the world; Chambers and Partners, and Legal 500.
 
She deals with all aspects of property work for clients including registered social housing providers, housing actions trusts and local authorities.
 
In her new role Whitton will advise on large-scale social housing developments, managing the property transaction process from site acquisition right through to project completion. Her remit also includes managing complex regeneration schemes and developments for shared ownership, shared equity and market sale.

She said: “Primas Law has a quality reputation throughout the North West and an emerging one in the South East. I was attracted by the ambition of the firm and that its focus is entirely on commercial clients and property sectors. The firm has a model that ensures its solicitors do what they do best; provide great legal advice to clients.”
 
Earlier this year, Primas Law opened an office in London, to complement its locations in Manchester and Cheshire.

MANCHESTER’S Northern-Quarter based consumer insight agency Join the Dots has welcomed six graduates to the dotAcademy, its in-house training and coaching centre of excellence.

Each year Join the Dots welcomes new graduates to its team. They initially join the graduate training programme for six months of intensive training, after which they are promoted into the company’s research teams.

Tim Griffiths, learning & development manager said: “We look to recruit the highest calibre of graduates every year and then we train them to our way of doing research.

“Our graduates benefit from a wide variety of training courses and have the opportunity to work on live client projects which gives them a fantastic grounding as they start their research careers.”

Join the Dots’ graduate scheme has been recognised by the Market Research Society (MRS) and awarded the status of Accredited Training Provider. They are the first agency outside London to achieve this accreditation.
 
The six graduates are: Ryan Kershaw, Ruth Babington, Georgia Aynsley, Jessica Duckworth, Emily Noakes and Luca Vitaloni.

DOCK10, the  media services business based at MediaCityUK, has announced the appointment of Brian Hardman as head of broadcast operations for post production.

Hardman joins from The Farm North, based in BBC North , where he worked as director of operations.

The firm company the newly created role demonstrates the importance placed on delivering excellent customer service, as it continues to expand its short form and long form service capabilities.

Hardman will lead on technology and operational matters and report into Paul Austin, head of post production.

Hardman brings a wealth of experience of assembling and managing teams of creatives and technologists to provide leading edge and innovative solutions for large-scale projects, and will become part of the dock10 senior team.

Hardman said: “I could not be more proud of what I have helped The Farm achieve over the past 4 years within BBC North, where we have developed and managed a team of over 60 people – but the opportunity to get back to the forefront of Post Production in a broader role is one that I look forward to immensely.”

Austin added: “We are delighted that Brian will be joining us at this exciting time in our development. It is imperative that we continue to offer technical and operational excellence to our clients and there is no one better than Brian to ensure that we achieve that.”
