Homeless charity’s cathedral carol concert

SHELTER’S Manchester Hub will be hosting a special Christmas carol concert on Sunday December 18 at Manchester Cathedral to mark 50 years since the housing and homelessness charity was founded.

The concert, which starts at 7.30pm, is a chance for Shelter’s Manchester Hub to thank all its valued supporters and staff who have dedicated so much to help Shelter fight homelessness.

The need is stronger than ever as over 1,400 children in Greater Manchester face spending this Christmas homeless and living in temporary accommodation.

The concert will be packed with special guests including readings from people helped by Shelter, and exclusive music from Streetwise Opera and Sacred Sounds Women’s Choir.

Anyone intending to go is advised to sign up for tickets by visiting Shelter’s Eventbrite page, or turn up on the night – but places are limited.

Tracey Bell, Shelter operations manager for the North, said: “Over the past 50 years we’ve made great progress in our fight against bad housing and homelessness, but sadly there’s still a long way to go.

“This Christmas will see more than 1,400 children waking up homeless in Greater Manchester.  We need your support to make sure we can be there for everyone who needs us.

“I would urge everyone to come and join us at this year’s extra special carol concert, not just to get into the festive spirit but to remember that together we must not rest until everyone has a place to call home.”
