12 events in Liverpool and Manchester to book now for 2017

THIS year is looking like a good one in Liverpool and Manchester. Get booking for these events now so you have plenty to look forward to over the next 12 months.

Manchester Beer & Cider Festival: January 19-21
Manchester Beer and Cider Festival returns in January for a second year at Manchester Central. The festival, which is the North’s biggest celebration of its kind, will feature over 600 beers, ciders and perries as well as craft ales, key-keg conditioned ales and traditional beverages. British Cycling National Track Championships: January 27-29
Cheer on your favourite athletes at the British Cycling National Track Championships taking place at the National Cycling Centre. The championships feature all the events of the Olympic Games and many more and athletes will compete to become British champion. Find out more here.

Anton & Erin: February 4
Head to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in February to see your favourite dancers Anton and Erin take to the stage. The evening will feature dazzling choreography and a show band performing timeless music like Moondance, Guys and Dolls and I Could Have Danced All Night. There will also be six ensemble dancers and the full 25 piece Manchester Concert Orchestra. Find out more here.

Manchester Film Weekender: March 17-19
The first Manchester Film Weekender, which is taking place at Chancellors Hotel & Conference Centre in Manchester, is focusing on German cinema, tracing the work of emerging German filmmakers who left to work in the USA. Eight films in total will be screened over the weekend led by an academic who is steeped in German cinema and all the films are opened up for discussion between screenings. Find out more here.

Grand National: April 8

Head along to Aintree to witness all the excitement and drama of the Grand National. 40 horses and jockeys will line up to race across the famous fences. Enjoy the day with the gang whilst watching history being made at the racecourse. Find out more here.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Liverpool Marathon: May 27-28
Get your running trainers out and head to Liverpool’s Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon in May. The event is for runners of all abilities to take part in and allows you to take in the sights and sounds of Liverpool, with the event starting at the Albert Dock before taking you down the likes of Matthew Street, Penny Lane and Chinatown. Liverpool Sound City: May 27-28
The UK’s largest music, digital and film festival and conference returns to Liverpool in May. Liverpool Sound City, which takes place on Clarence Dock, has brought some of the most exciting breakthrough artists to the city in previous years, with the likes of Florence and the Machine and Ed Sheeran taking to the stage in the past. The festival isn’t all about the music though as there are a range of talks to go along to as well as other fun stuff for the whole family to enjoy. Find out more here.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra: It Was 50 Years Ago Today: May 31, June 3 and July 8
It is hard to believe that this year marks 50 years since The Beatles released Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. In celebration of the iconic album, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bootleg Beatles are teaming up to perform it in its entirety. British Style Collective 2017: July 7-9
The Clothes Show is moving to Liverpool this year and they are bringing ‘British Style Collective’ to the city in July. The event will be set across five of Liverpool’s most iconic locations and is set to be the fashion and beauty event of the year. Find out more here.

Sounds of the City: June 30 – July 8
Sounds of the City returns to Castlefield Bowl in Manchester for weeks of great live music. The 2017 line-up includes Manchester legends James, The Verve’s Richard Ashcroft and Stockport band Blossoms who have seen huge success over the last year. Find out more here.

England vs South Africa Test Match: August 4 – 8
Head along to the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in August to watch England face off against the South African Cricket team at the Investec Test Match. The match will be first time the Proteas have played a Test Match in Manchester since 1998. Find out more here.

International Beatleweek 2017: August 23 – 29
Liverpool’s annual International Beatleweek Festival returns to the city in August. There will be live music from over 70 bands at the Cavern and various other venues across the city and the festival is a real celebration of the most famous pop group the world has ever known. There will also be late night parties and the Annual Beatles convention where there will be guest speakers, quizzes and more fun. Find out more here.
