Ex-KPMG audit director joins Grant Thornton

BUSINESS advisory firm Grant Thornton has appointed Mick Frankish as a partner in their Manchester office.

After working as audit director at Big Four firm KPMG for two decades, Frankish will join Grant Thornton’s North West leadership team.

He will work largely in the Manchester office but offer some support to other audit partners based in Liverpool.

Carl Williams, North West managing partner at Grant Thornton, said: “We are always looking to bring in talent, but to have attracted someone of Mick’s calibre is a fantastic coup for Grant Thornton in the North West.

“He is an outstanding, market-facing, client relationship audit partner and we are delighted to have him.

“I am sure he will be a major asset as we look to broaden our client base in the North West and North Wales.

“I believe this is a clear sign of our confidence in the North West and the opportunities for us to grow here.”

Frankish said: “The level of investment being made by the firm is a real signal of intent.

“I really like the firm’s vision for growth and the ambition to have a real go at growing the practice and I look forward to working with Carl and the team to make this happen.”

Mr Frankish, 41, started his career at KPMG at the age of 21, after graduating from the University of Birmingham.

Moving to Grant Thornton, he will join one of 28 offices in the UK. The global firm employs more than 4,500 people across 130 countries and was set up in Chicago upwards of 70 years ago.
