Your chance for question time with the Conservative mayoral candidate

SEAN Anstee, the leader of Trafford Council and the Conservative candidate for Mayor of Greater Manchester, will be setting out his agenda for election this Friday morning (January 20).

As well as chatting on stage with Joanne Birtwistle, editor of TheBusinessDesk, Anstee will also be taking audience questions, so this is your chance to get your voice heard before his mayoral manifesto is officially launched at the end of February.

The breakfast event, held at the Manchester airport Marriott Hotel and sponsored by financial planning and wealth strategy firm Foresight, has been organised by business membership organisation The Profile Club.Foresight logo

Anstee, 29, started his working life with a Barclays apprenticeship at 16, before completing a business management degree at Manchester Metropolitan University whilst a manager of a team of 30 at Bank of New York Mellon in Manchester.  He became leader of Trafford Council in 2014 and is the UK’s youngest council leader.

As the Conservative’s Greater Manchester Metro Mayor candidate, he is up against Labour’s Andy Burnham, Jane Brophy of the Liberal Democrats, UKIP’s Shneur Odze and a yet to be announced Green Party candidate.

He already hold responsibility for the skills and employment agenda across the Greater Manchester Combined Authority so it will be no surprise to see this topic feature high up on his mayoral agenda. Other objectives include transport and housing – all of which Anstee will detail at the event.

He will also explain why he thinks that the Northern Powerhouse agenda is “more important than ever”, as Britain exits the European Union.
