Traffic update: Lanes reopened on M62

The M62 westbound has reopened between J8 and J7, following an earlier incident.

Road users were advised to follow the Hollow Square Symbol led diversion.

Exit the M62 at J8 and take the 2nd exit at the roundabout onto Burtonwood Road.

At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit (Whittle Ave).

At Great Sankey take the A57 westbound to re-join the M62 at J7.

If heading for Liverpool and surrounding areas motorists are advised to continue to the M6 junction 26 to then travel westbound on the M58 as an alternative route.

Meanwhile, earlier severe southbound delays on the M6 in Cheshire between J22 and J27 have now cleared.
