Fast-growing business utility switching firm targets 400 headcount

Fast-growing comparison specialist Exchange Utility is aiming to expand on its two Bury sites to three and grow its headcount from 250 to 400.

The company launched in 2013 has already expanded from just two staff to its current level having tapped into the SME market and passing the £3m turnover mark in 2015.

Director Kelly Ivison, who joined the Exchange Utility soon after it launched, said it was now also targeting the corporate market.

But she also said the company has no aspiration to become a plc and intends to remain in Bury where most of its staff are drawn from.

“Our vision is to be the ‘go to’ company for business comparison,” Ivison, who runs the company alongside fellow director John Baker, told TheBusinessDesk. “In the business market we want to be cut above the rest by making the customer savings.

“Importantly, we want to retain our staff and our customers. Our belief is that if you look after your staff, they will look after the customers.

“I’ve been in the energy business now for nearly nine years and I have worked in a lot of out sourced contact centres. This company is like no other I’ve worked for. There are family values here.”

Exchange Utility’s head office is in the centre of Bury and another opened at Heap Bridge in June 2016.

“There are no trade secrets to our success, you just have to be true to your word,” Ivison went on.

She also said the business was perfectly placed geographically to go with Bury well served the the Metrolink.

“Why shouldn’t we put Bury on the map?” she added.
