Why the right environment matters

Martin Mochan, head of conferencing at Alderley Park, on the benefits of being out of town.

Great events require equally great settings in order to succeed. And this is never truer than when it comes to holding memorable and effective corporate conferences.

I’m sure we have all attended meetings in urban locations – where the stresses of finding somewhere to park and the proximity of a multitude of business (and sometimes leisure) distractions can impact on the way we engage.

By contrast, the chance to learn, debate and network in a novel rural setting can be a major selling point, and leave a lasting impression.

Set in 400 acres of picturesque-Cheshire parkland, Alderley Park Conference Centre provides a refreshing alternative to urban venues and the feedback we receive from customers reinforces this. Delegates tell us that coming here helps them to clear their heads and truly focus.

In addition to being a change of scene, there’s evidence that suggests working in green spaces reduces stress, increases productivity and creativity.

An out-of-town location is also conducive when it comes to maximising networking time and collaboration between delegates. There’s less distraction – particularly during intervals between sessions – and by providing comfortable communal areas, quality refreshments and break-out spaces to take impromptu meetings, attendees will inevitably end up networking and collaborating more.

With abundant free car parking, great rail access and stunning Cheshire countryside on our doorstep, we’re able to offer team building exercises and outdoor networking and workshops to make use of our natural environment. These can really add an extra dimension to a conference or event and we’re continually adding to the type of activities we offer.

If you’d like to experience this for yourself or your organisation, please do get in touch.
