Investment firm signs major sponsorship deal with The Christie

The Manchester office of investment management firm Brooks Macdonald has signed a sponsorship agreement with Manchester-based charity The Christie.

Through this sponsorship, Brooks Macdonald will support five of The Christie’s key events in 2017 which aim to raise vital funds for cancer patients.

The first will be The Christie Charity Ball on March 18, one of the most prestigious events in the North West.

Others include a legacy seminar, discussing how to gift to charities in your will, and the Walk of Hope, a 10km walk which honours those who have experienced or lost their lives to cancer.

The Christie is Europe’s largest single site cancer centre and an international leader in research and development. Through generous funding, The Christie continues to support all phases of clinical trials and other leading research projects.

The Christie Charity Ball is aiming to raise £100,000 for The Christie charity to support the vascular interventional radiology suite.

Interventional radiology uses high-tech image guidance equipment to carry out pinhole surgery to treat patients and relieve their side effects. It provides less invasive treatment to patients with all the accompanying benefits of shorter hospital stays, greater comfort and quicker recovery.

This type of treatment has seen a 62% increase in activity over the last four years.

This treatment will be performed in the state-of-the-art Integrated Procedures Unit at The Christie. In addition to increasing capacity for this type of treatment, the Ball’s fundraising will facilitate the purchase of the Cone Beam CT Technology machine.

This unique machine provides advanced road mapping 3D imaging which allows for more effective and accurate delivery of targeted chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Claire Bennison, director at Brooks Macdonald said: “We are extremely proud to be supporting The Christie and helping to raise vital funds for cancer research and care.

“Having partnered with The Christie on various projects in the past, we have a strong understanding of the importance of the work they are doing and are delighted to commit to a higher level of support.”

Marie Toller, major relationships manager at The Christie added: “We are delighted that Brooks Macdonald is a leading partner of The Christie in 2017.

“The money raised through these events will help to fund the outstanding treatment and research that takes place at The Christie.

“The awareness generated through these events will also prove invaluable as we continue to help shape the future of cancer care.”
