Gin fans in for a treat in Liverpool

Gin fans in Merseyside are in for a treat next weekend with a festival dedicated to all things gin taking place.

The Absolutely Fabulous Gin Festival is set to take place at Croxteth Hall in Croxteth Country Park in Liverpool from Friday 3 – Sunday 5 March.

The team behind the festival, Absolutely Amazing Events, are hosting the event following the success of their first gin festival in October, 2016. Director at Absolutely Amazing Events, Lisa, said: “We wanted to introduce an event where people had the opportunity to taste a selection of gin’s that aren’t widely available so they may not have had the chance to try them before. It will also give people the opportunity to taste with different garnishing’s and different tonics.

“We are holding it at the venue as it is one that people don’t always get the opportunity to go to as it is usually hired out for weddings and other events, so it means that people can see the venue in all of its glory as it is a beautiful venue.”

“We really hope that people will come along and enjoy themselves.”

Gin FestivalThere will be over 35 gins available to try at the festival, from a selection of London Gin’s, gin liquor and craft gins. There will also be photo opportunities, stalls and a shop where people can purchase their favourites from the festival, with some of them unable to be purchased in a high-street store.

There will also be a gin guide for festival visitors where they will be able to learn more about gin and serving suggestions whilst enjoying the selection available in the venue. Live entertainment will also be provided by local musicians who are set to take to the stage at the festival.

Gin has become incredibly popular in recent years, with 100 new gin distilleries opened in the past two years and 40m bottles sold in 2016 alone.

Lisa believes that gin has grown in popularity as there are more ways to enjoy it now. She said: “Years ago, people who drank gin and tonic found that it could be quite dry, but nowadays, there are so many options and you can enjoy gin however you like, with more garnish options and ways to enjoy it.”

The festival takes place from 6pm-12am on Friday March 3, from 12pm-5pm and 6pm – 12am on Saturday March 4 and 12pm-5pm on Sunday March 5.
