Northern Armani Exchange outlets close

Outlets of fashion brand Armani Exchange in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds have closed.

The shops at the Intu Trafford Centre, Manchester, the Met Quarter in Liverpool and at Trinity Leeds are six of eight UK shops to close, including its flagship store on London’s Regent Street.

Trading will continue at Westfield London and at York Designer Outlet Centre and online.

The move follows a review by the parent company Giorgio Armani Group.

Estates Gazette reports that the leases have been surrendered back to the landlords and are likely to be re-let.

Armani Exchange was launched in 1991 as an affordable alternative to Giorgio Armani. Worldwide there are 270 Armani Exchange outlets.

Singapore-owned fashion house Club 21 became joint venture partner and licensee of the brand in 2005 to help increase its global presence.

It was responsible for all of Armani Exchange’s UK retail property and leases while Giorgio Armani, the parent company, only held a minor stake until 2014 when it took back control.
