Door maker firm seals £1.4m finance deal

Timber door and doorsets manufacturer Pendle Doors, based in Darwen near Blackburn, has secured a £1.4m financing package from Yorkshire Bank for the purchase of premises and new machinery.

The deal has allowed the company to create a minimum of four new local jobs, bringing the total number of Pendle Doors employees to 32. The number of local jobs is expected to increase over time as the business reacts to client demand.

The machinery will enable the Lancashire business to create a new veneering process which has significantly reduced costs and led to increased opportunities in the market place.

The company was founded in Burnley in 1957 and was purchased by the Anderson family in 1994. In 2007 the company relocated to its current site in Blackburn, with a large 30,000sq ft manufacturing facility.

Pendle Doors provides a tailored service to fulfil specific purposes within commercial and residential settings, including security, fire resistance, noise reduction and healthcare purposes.

Sue Anderson, finance director at Pendle Doors, said, “The package from Yorkshire Bank will enable us to grow the family business and create a new opportunities in the market place.

“We constantly strive to improve and continue to develop our processes, products and service in line with customer needs and the veneering machinery shows evidence of our determination to grow and progress.”

Andy Nurse, business manager at Yorkshire Bank, said: “We were very pleased to be able to support this local family business to put in place a financing agreement that will help them as they embark on a fresh stage of growth.”
