ITV to agree MediaCity move ‘within weeks’

ITV is said to be weeks away from concluding a deal to move to MediaCity in Salford Quays.

The on-off talks, which collapsed last year after a fall out between developer Peel Media and ITV bosses, were revived in January after the appointment of Archie Norman as the broadcaster’s new chairman.

According to reports the deal will involve ITV having a purpose-built studio facility and it will also share space with the BBC.

It is also understood to be considering housing some back-office and administration staff in an existing building to help reduce costs.

ITV is said to be keen to hold on to its historic Granada building in Quay Street until the commercial property market picks up.

Senior figures at Peel Media have been confident of luring the broadcaster to the £500m complex for some time.
