Ocon wins contract for London student block

MANCHESTER-based Ocon Construction has won a contract to build a £3.4m student accommodation block in London.

It has been appointed by BHE Property Developments to put up a four-storey building with 74 flats and three retail units. The architect is London-based Pascal & Watson.

Ocon’s managing director Andrew Barker said: “Ocon has built its reputation as a university accommodation specialist and this latest contract win follows completion of three student living schemes over the past couple of months in Dundee, Exeter and Loughborough.

“We are also currently on site at major student living schemes in Sussex and Nottingham. Our expertise in handing over on time, within budget and with zero defects means that developers can trust us to deliver to the exacting programmes dictated by the academic calendar whilst providing the build-quality and service excellence that has made us a leader in the sector.”

The site for the scheme on Fulham Palace Road was previously occupied by a filling station but has been derelict for some time. Remediation works have already been completed.
