General Physics buys Bath Consultancy Group

GENERAL Physics UK, the Stockport-based training & consultancy firm which is part of US-based General Physics Corporation, has bought competitor firm Bath Consultancy Group for an undisclosed sum.

Bath Consultancy Group was set up in 1986 by three members of the University of Bath’s School of Management. Since then, the firm has offered consultancy services advising on leadership development and organisational change. In the year to April 30 2009, it turned over $3m (£1.9m).

General Physics UK was advised on the deal by Manchester-based law firm Cobbetts.

Corporate partner Ian Riggs said: “The acquisition of BCG, which is a highly-regarded business with a strong client base, will widen GP’s market coverage, and further improve its ability to support its UK and global clients with best in class training services. We were delighted to advise on the transaction.”

Cobbetts has previously advised General Physics’ UK arm on its acquisition of Milsom Industrial Designs in October 2009 and Marton House in April 2010.
