MANCHESTER SOFTWARE STARTUP WITH GLOBAL PERFORMANCE IN ITS SIGHTS

A fast growing Manchester software startup has just released the first version of its technology platform which aims to revolutionise computing performance.
Reconfigure.io has spent the last year building close relationships with a range of software multinationals. It is now engaging with first users who have been waiting to build its breakthrough acceleration technology into their own systems.

Reconfigure.io is tackling the major global problem of IT systems struggling to cope with the massive data demands driven by explosive growth in areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and online media.

For 50 years computer performance and cost gains were driven by relentless advances in silicon chips, a process known as Moore’s Law after Gordon Moore, Intel’s founder.

However, in recent years, these gains have slowed and left the global computing industry seeking new ways to keep computer performance apace with new demands and possibilities.

The company is based in Manchester but has also has key high end engineers in the US. Staff has more than doubled to 11 in total so far in the last few weeks. Reconfigure.io closed a seed round in October, from angels in the UK, Switzerland and the US. A further round to speed growth is currently underway.

Founder Rob Taylor, a serial software entrepreneur, says: “As far as we know, we have no direct competitors but we are seeking to move as quickly as possible as compute acceleration is an extremely hot global issue.”

Taylor and his team are incorporating and enhancing many computer acceleration techniques within a totally new software platform to allow systems to be swiftly assembled for much faster performance. Public release of an enhanced platform targeting software engineers everywhere is planning by April.

The company has already filed a provisional patent and is planning more soon to secure its position as a major contributor to the evolution of enterprise systems.

Assisting Taylor is Malcolm Evans, an experienced financier and industrialist, who comments: “The UK has for a long time lacked unicorn prospects in fundamental Enterprise IT. Reconfigure.io is addressing strong need with strong IP at just the right time.”
