Merseyside Independent Business Awards launches for 2017

Nominations are now open for this year’s Merseyside Independent Business Awards.

Businesses can be nominated across a number of categories including health and beauty, trades and manufacturing, creative, retail and professional services, while there are also awards for community impact, best employer and best start-up.

The winners of each award will be announced at a glittering ceremony at Liverpool’s Rum Warehouse on Thursday 12 October. The overall Merseyside Independent Business of the Year will also be named on the night, with the winner receiving a business support package worth £5,000.

The Merseyside Independent Business Awards, organised by Morecrofts Solicitors and headline sponsored by Liverpool BID Company, are now in their fifth year and aim to showcase the economic impact of the region’s small business owners and leading entrepreneurs.

Alison Lobb, managing partner at Morecrofts Solicitors, said: “The MIB Awards have gone from strength to strength since they were first launched in 2013 and it’s incredible to think this will be our fifth event.

“Businesses of all shapes and sizes take part every year, from boutique hotels and fine dining restaurants to widget makers, beauticians and financial advisors, giving us a unique opportunity to shine a light on the amazing work being done by independents across the city region.

“Nominations can be made by businesses themselves or by their advisors, suppliers and other peers, so we would encourage as many businesses as possible to come forward and make this a real celebration of our independent business community.”

Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, said: “One of the main priorities for Liverpool BID Company is to champion the voice of our levy payers, and create the right environment for them to succeed, whether a retailer, restaurant owner, or legal and financial service.

“The BID areas on and around Bold Street, Church Street, Castle Street, Metquarter and the Cavern Quarter, are home to some incredible independent businesses. Like our annual Independents’ Week celebration in the summer, the MIB Awards is a wonderful opportunity to congratulate them and raise their profile in the local community. Their continued success is vital to Liverpool’s growing economy.”
