Theresa May’s surprise decision to call a general election in June is the latest in a long line of recent political and economic shocks businesses have had to absorb.

The almost-permanent state of uncertainty from referenda and elections – here, in America and in Europe – have been added to by military tensions affecting international markets.

Disruptive technology is also creating huge change within businesses and across industries. The so-called uberisation of the economy provides exciting opportunities for the nimble and visionary, but significant risk too.

The cliche about economists is they put decimal points in their forecasts to show they have a sense of humour. The same now feels true for anyone in business creating a five-year plan.

TheBusinessDesk.com, in partnership with advisers Mazars, have brought together a panel of experts including macro-economics expert Dr John Glen, from Cranfield School of Management, and Mazars’ tax partner Eric Williams.

They will discuss how businesses can manage risk as they seek opportunities for growth in these interesting but decidedly uncertain times.
