Co-working group Jelly hosts latest Birmingham event

HOMEWORKERS and freelancers from across Birmingham and the West Midlands came together for the latest ‘Jelly’ co-working event.

The America concept, born in 2006, sees people working at venues such as cafes or hotels who would otherwise be based at home.

It is aimed generally at one-person or very small businesses but all are welcome.

Jelly has been running at various venues successfully across Shropshire since last April and the Birmingham branch was launched in October by local businesswoman Rickie Josen.

This latest Jelly was the third event in the second city and the first to be held at the new Urban Coffee Company, in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, having previously been held at the cafe’s city centre unit.

Ms Josen said: “Jelly was fantastic so we are going to have that one once a month and maybe have another at Urban Coffee Company in Church St in between on a Tuesday.

“The only complaint was that we all got on so well we were chatting way too much to get any work done so we’ll have to be more disciplined next month.”

Among attendees were business consultants Ed Hart and James Rock, photographer Rhys Jones and style coach Debra Carter.

Further Birmingham Jelly events are expected to be held at the same venue rather than moving back to the city centre.

Updates on future Jelly meetings will be posted on Twitter at @rickiewrites.
