Birmingham Airport passengers taste the high life

PASSENGERS departing Birmingham Airport can now get a taste of the high life – before they have even taken off.

Latest addition to the range of services airside is the Blanc et Noir champagne bar. The new concession follows a £120,000 investment by travel catering group SSP UK.

The company said the airport was the perfect choice for the new bar because of its increasing appeal as a departure point for couples and single sex parties heading off on holiday or a city break.

The bar serves a range of champagnes and fine wines from around the world, while it will also offer coffee and food options such as mezze and cheese platters plus open sandwiches.

Wayne Chapman, brands director for SSP UK, said: “The opening of Blanc et Noir Champagne and wine bar at Birmingham Airport is a key part of our redevelopment of the retail and catering environment within the terminal.

“Over the past months SSP UK has opened the first BK360 design Burger King in a UK airport and Upper Crust, with a new M&S Simply Food outlet launching this month as part of a total £1m investment which has created over 55 jobs.

“We are constantly looking at ways to connect with and welcome new customers and such an impressive addition as Blanc et Noir does exactly that. We’re very excited to be able to offer this luxury brand in Birmingham Airport, and it was thanks to our Birmingham based focus groups who loved both the concept and prices which made Birmingham Airport the ideal first choice.”

Richard Gill, head of market development – commercial, for Birmingham Airport said: “This concept was the ideal choice for a range of passengers. Whether it’s holidaymakers looking to start their trip in style or business travellers, we believe the new champagne bar will appeal to passengers who are looking for something a little bit special.

“The opening of Blanc et Noir is the latest stage in the £13m terminal redevelopment and it widens the choice available to passengers seeking refreshment while waiting to board flights.”
