MIPIM 2011: RLB secures State Bank of India deal

BIRMINGHAM-based property and construction consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall has been appointed by the State Bank of India to fit out and refurbish nine of its High Street banks in the UK.

Wolverhampton and Coventry are two of three locations which will see new branches of the bank while existing sites in six other areas will undergo a refit, including the Birmingham operation in Handsworth.

RLB will act as project managers, cost consultants, construction, design and management co-ordinators and designers on the schemes.

The other sites include a new branch in East London and refurbishment of banks in the City of London, Golders Green Southall, Leicester and Manchester.

RLB will also fit out new office accommodation at Bishopsgate, London, to house some of the bank’s UK operations.

The announcement was made at international property conference MIPIM today and comes as RLB officially opens a new office in Mumbai.

Business Birmingham logo Mark Weaver, managing partner at Rider Levett Bucknall, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to partner State Bank of India at a pivotal stage of its expansion plans.

“This programme will see us carry out work on all 10 properties in less than 12 months, with a completion date set for late 2011.”
