Brazilian restaurant chain to open in Birmingham

BRAZILIAN restaurant chain Rodizio Rico is launching its first unit outside the capital in The Cube in Birmingham.

The eatery is due to open its doors at the mixed-use complex early next year in a 7,350 sq ft unit.

The 250-seat restaurant will be on the seventh floor, opening out onto the canal, with fit-out work due to start in August on which tenders are still being considered.

The firm currently has four restaurants in London, including one at The O2 Arena, and will join Hotel Indigo and Marco Pierre White’s Steakhouse Bar and Grill as leisure offerings at The Cube.

Rodizio Rico owner Mike Nailer said: “Birmingham is very well known for its restaurant offering and we’ve been keen to open an outlet here for some time.

“It’s a big step for us to move outside of London but when we heard about The Cube it seemed the ideal location for us.

“The canal side positioning provides a beautiful backdrop that we can utilise to an even further extent in the summer months.”

Neil Edginton, director at The Cube, added: “We’re delighted that The Cube has attracted another London operator to Birmingham, continuing the city’s inward investment programme.

“Rodizio Rico offers a unique restaurant experience that adds to our growing leisure plans and shows there really is something for everyone at The Cube.

“The canal side unit has proved extremely popular, with many businesses now competing for space.

“This announcement is just the first of a number of exciting announcements in relation to our leisure space.”
