Thai restaurant to open on Brindleyplace

Siamais Restaurant Birmingham

A new Thai restaurant and bar is set to open in Birmingham city centre next week.

Siamais, which is opening on Brindleyplace on Monday March 27, is the brainchild of young businessman Nishil Nathwani, who opened his first restaurant in Manchester at the age of 22.

Mr Nathwani then went on to launch Aluna cocktail bar at The Mailbox in Birmingham, and now Siamais, which will be a sister venue to Aluna.

The name Siamais, pronounced Siam-aze, is a play on words incorporating twins (Siamese), and Siam (the old name for Thailand) to reflect its offerings of both drink and food.

Mr Nathwani said: “”Aluna has been a huge success as a ‘mixology’ specialist cocktail bar. There, we combined sumptuous interiors, experimental cocktails and lively music, all designed to appeal to young professionals. And as a secondary offering, you can also choose from our Thai inspired food menu.

“The choice is the customer. You can come here simply to drink and stay in the bar all night. Or choose to eat in the restaurant, but either way – it’s all going to be done very differently, with a little bit of Siamais magic.”

The venue will have their restaurant as their primary offering and the bar will be curtained off. The bar is set to offer up to 60 cocktails and they will be served in bamboo glasses, teapots and the menu and décor choices have been selected to reflect the mystery of Old Siam.

Siamais will open on Monday March 27 on Brindleyplace.
